Tech Tips: How to check Storage on your Google account; create additional space!

Starting on June 1,2021, Google has made efforts to include newly uploaded content on Google Photos and high quality photos, under the 15GB original storage that it gives its users. Users can now keep track of free space on their Google accounts! Read on to find out...

David Lieb, Product Lead of Google Photos said that every Google account comes with 15GB of free storage, which means that more than 80% of 'Google Photos' users will be able to keep uploading content for about 3 more years before running out of space.

However, Lieb noted that before the mentioned changes took effect, Google would have to launch some new tools that make it easier to identify and delete content that you don’t want to store, for instance, dark, blurry photos, long videos, and more.

Thus, Google users can now get an estimate on how long their storage may last based on how often users backup photos, videos, files, and other content to their Google Account. They can check the current storage on https://photos.google.com/storage and can further decide if they want to free up space or consider paid options to buy more storage!

.

Users can clear up the unnecessary data from their Google account by going to 'Manage Account' Settings. Those wanting to opt for paid storage options have Google plans starting from Rs.130 for 100GB per month.
.

The paid plans are as follows:

100GB: This storage plan by Google comes for Rs.130 a month and for Rs.1300 a year. It brings 100 GB storage + extra member benefits + option to add family members + access to Google experts.

200GB: This storage plan by Google comes for Rs.210 a month and for Rs.2100 a year. It brings 200 GB storage + extra member benefits + option to add family members + access to Google experts.

2TB: This plan comes for Rs.650 a month and for Rs.6500 a year with additional benefits remaining the same! Google gives VPN services for this plan in the US and is likely to expand it to India as well.

.

So hang on there buddies, Google's got our backs!๐Ÿ˜‰
